Acne | The human liver receives nutrients from the digestive system and further processes these nutrients into chemicals and substances useful to the body. The liver can correctly be remembered as a factory in the body where plasma proteins (albumin), blood glucose, and lipids are synthesized and released into the body. The liver also plays an important role in drug metabolism, detoxification of chemicals and ammonium. There are many liver disorders. Acute liver disorders usually cause the patient to be ill and present to a healthcare provider for evaluation. Chronic liver disorders may be subtle. The patient may be unaware of being ill at all. Evaluation of liver function (or liver failure) is possible through
use of a variety of diagnostic tests, including tests performed on blood
and urine specimens in the clinical laboratory. The tests to evaluate
liver function are available to our customers. |
